The Importance of Facts in Today's World and the Role of Academic Publishers
The role of an academic publisher is to ensure proper validation of scientific findings by assisting our editors in the peer-review process, certifying these findings by publishing them in our journals, and ensuring the distribution and archiving of these findings in collaboration with a variety of partners, including academic libraries and Scientific Publishers.
We help to establish, defend, and safeguard the integrity of the corpus of scientific knowledge through these initiatives, which encourage the pursuit of human progress.
We explicitly proclaim that as science publishers and citizens, we are dedicated to supporting public conversation based on verified facts and that we will not change the editorial policies of our journals in response to commercial or political pressure. We have validated and distributed peer-reviewed data and material, whether or not it is consistent with accepted facts, and we will continue to do so.
We have and will continue to guarantee broad access to the ever-expanding scientific corpus, in order to participate constructively in the public discussion on how to make the world a better, safer, and more generous place, in collaboration with our library community partners.
The Athenaeum and its partners are developing new access arrangements for scientific material. As a result, they've teamed up with a range of publishers: some solely publish open access journals, while others provide subscription-based and hybrid open access options. When the content of a journal is open access and comes under the terms of the Athenaeum-publisher agreement, the version of record (VoR) will be made accessible for anybody to view on Athenaeum. Members with institutional subscriptions to the material will automatically get access to the full text of articles from subscription-based or hybrid open-access publications.
Here's how Scientific Publishers partnerships help you access the content you need:
You may access a large number of papers immediately in Athenaeum, eliminating the need to seek elsewhere.
You can be sure you're looking at the VoR and not a draught or unofficial version.
Articles are easier to find, allowing you to find relevant stuff more quickly.
You may now view the VoR of subscription-based papers from wherever you are, whether on or off-campus if your institution has a subscription or if you have library access.
When you read articles on Athenaeum, you may look up the authors' biographies and contact them directly to ask questions or locate potential collaborators.
